Q. What is Life Care?
A. Life care is a comprehensive approach to senior living that brings everything you want and need together in one place. At Meadow Ridge, you enjoy a wonderful place to live, convenient services for easy living, and a wide variety of activities and amenities such as tennis courts and an indoor pool. Plus, you have a lifetime of unlimited days of assisted living and health care services available right here in our neighborhood should you ever need it.
Q. How much does Life Care cost?
A. You pay a one-time-only entrance fee and a monthly service fee to live at Meadow Ridge. The fees depend on the size and type of residence you choose, whether or not you have someone living with you, and which financial plan you select.

  • Our Return of Capital Plan™ refunds a significant portion of your entrance fee to you or your estate…guaranteed!
  • Your monthly fee gives you total access to all of Meadow Ridge’s on-site activities, amenities and future health care services, if needed.
  • If you receive care in our Health Center, regardless of how long or how often, you never pay a daily room fee—ever. The only additional cost you pay is to cover two extra meals per day, plus any special costs such as prescriptions and medical supplies.
Q. How does Long-term Care Insurance compare to Life Care?
A. Life care is a comprehensive approach to senior living that brings everything you want and need together in one place. At Meadow Ridge, you enjoy a wonderful place to live, convenient services for easy living and a wide variety of activities and amenities such as tennis courts and an indoor pool. Plus, you have a lifetime of unlimited days of assisted living and health care services available right here in our neighborhood, should you ever need it.

  • Most long-term care policies do not guarantee where you will receive care. Many well-respected healthcare centers have a waiting list, so you could end up receiving care some place less desirable.
  • The average daily cost for nursing care in Connecticut is $357 per day for a semi-private room and $385 per day for a private room, but the average long-term care policy only pays $100 to $200 per day. You could end up paying $185 to $285 each day for a private room, which can add up fast!
Q. If I move to Meadow Ridge, can I use my Long-term Care Insurance?
A. Yes. When you receive care in our Health Center you only pay for two meals a day and any medical supplies. Depending on the plan, your long-term care insurance may cover these, which means your daily cost could be zero! So, while long-term care insurance isn’t necessary at Meadow Ridge, it could provide an extra layer of security.
Q. Bottom line, what does Life Care give me that I can’t get anywhere else?
A. Health care, especially assisted living and skilled nursing care, is expensive. Meadow Ridge’s life care plan gives you an easy way to contain the future costs with a predictable monthly fee.
Q. Why can’t I just wait until I need health care to move?
A. Make no mistake, Meadow Ridge is a community for seniors who live independently. Our assisted living and health care services are available should you ever need them, but you have to meet basic health requirements before ever moving here. The time to decide is now while you are independent and able to explore all the options available. Plus, if you wait, you will miss out on our activities and amenities. Moving sooner means not having to take care of a house and lawn, feeling good that you have a plan in place for any future needs and relieving your family of having to make decisions on your behalf.
