More than 25 percent of Redding is permanently preserved open space, with acres of woods and miles of hiking and biking trails. That contributes to its charm and quaint feel, but don’t let that fool you: You can find everything you want and need nearby, including shopping, restaurants, arts, entertainment and culture.

Venture a bit further out from convenient Redding and take a drive to Westport (15 minutes), Yale (60 minutes) or New York City (90 minutes). If you don’t want to drive, the Metro-North train station is less than 15 minutes away.
One of the best things about New England living is the change of seasons. Each one is special in its own way, but spring and summer are favored by residents who are enthusiastic about tennis and pickleball, hiking, biking and enjoying the outdoors. Of course, golf is a favorite, too, and there are courses in and around Redding, so it’s easy to play a round of golf when you want.
