Jillian Andrews from Connecticut’s Morning Buzz on WTNH recently spotlighted the vibrant Meadow Ridge community, showcasing its innovative fitness amenities and exciting wellness programs designed for active seniors.

Meadow Ridge Keeps Seniors Engaged with the Latest in Fitness

Meadow Ridge is keeping seniors engaged with the latest and greatest in fitness and fun. Our residents share how our community has exceeded their expectations, providing a vibrant environment that promotes physical wellness and active living.

“Whether it be in the pool, the stretch and fitness centers, or the gym itself, there really are terrific programs,” resident David Dolan said. David and his wife Carolyn moved to Meadow Ridge roughly a year ago. They say the continuing care retirement community has a variety of engaging fitness and wellness activities to choose from. “It’s very important as you age, to keep a healthy lifestyle. Exercise is going to be one of the ways to do it, beside eating. You have to really stay active and this place enables you to do that,” Carolyn said.

Innovation in Fitness: Golf Simulator and More

Our community regularly updates its approach to fitness, adding new classes and activities. The latest addition is a state-of-the-art golf simulator. Residents can hit real golf balls into a screen. The technology accurately analyzes their shot and displays the flight and landing of the ball.

“We have many people who have played golf their entire lives and they didn’t give it up because they couldn’t swing a club any longer, they had to give it up because they couldn’t navigate a golf course,” Chris Barstein, executive director of the community said.

Pickleball Courts Resurfaced and Ready for Play

After hearing about a growing interest in pickleball from residents, Meadow Ridge resurfaced on-site pickleball courts.

“We got our court resurfaced and realigned so you can play tennis one way, but it’s also got two pickleball courts going the other way. And it’s been really well received,” Barstein said.

A Community Focused on Movement and Wellness

Residents can choose from a calendar of daily activities for movement and wellness benefits.

“Classes are great because we get huge classes and everybody is motivating everybody else as well and you’re seeing the benefits of it together. Again that social piece is also so important, we gain friendships out of this,” Meadow Ridge Fitness Manager Jaime Silverman said.

Endless activities and programs.
